Our Emergency Pet Clinic

There are certain situations that simply cannot wait. If your pet is having a health problem, such as an injury or a seizure, our veterinarians are here to give your pet the pet care he might need to recover from his ailment or at least to prevent it from getting worse.

Idiopathic Epilepsy

Idiopathic epilepsy is a recurring condition that can take place repeatedly and seems to have no clear cause. Animals can suffer from idiopathic epilepsy just like people can. The symptoms include periods of long staring, tremors, convulsions, stiffness, crying, moaning, or screaming, an unnatural bending of the neck and spine, unresponsiveness, odd head movements, and biting the tips of the tongue. Symptoms can also include thrusting or odd movement of the hips, and eyes flickering.

This disorder can be hard to diagnose because the reason or cause for this disorder may not be clear even after diagnostics have been done. Although this disorder may sound alarming and very concerning for pet owners, it is possible to get your pet help. A veterinarian on our veterinary team will run a set of tests to determine the reasons or cause for your pet's seizures and form a recommended course of action to help with this issue. We encourage pet owners to bring their pets to the vet as soon as possible if these symptoms become frequent and recurring. Even if you notice these behaviors in your pet just once, it may be a good idea to have your pet looked at by a vet. If you have questions regarding your pet's health as well as seizures, call us. We're committed to proactive action when it comes to your pet's health.
